• What is Domometer?
  Domometer is a tool to help you measure the quality of a domain name. The quality of domain names are graded from A+ to F. You can also see the relative quality of the domain name compared to the domain names in the Domometer database.

  Please note: Domometer measures only the quality of the domain name, not the content or the service of a website. If you would like to remove the rating for your domain name for any reason, send us a mail at contact@domometer.com.

• How does Domometer work?
  Domometer dynamically identifies and maintains a list of factors found in the domain names of the world's most popular websites. Some obvious factor are short domain names, use of dictionary words, not using hypens etc. Domometer uses Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning to create the dynamic factors used in the calculation.
• Are Domometer results reliable?
  The results on Domometer are based on math and observation, they are best taken as the insight of a knowledgeable peer. Use Domometer to get a 2nd or 3rd person opinion about a domain name.
• Does a high Domometer grade guarantee a website's success?
  A good domain name does not automatically guarantee the success of a website. It takes marketing and promotion of the website to make it popular. Above all, it is the idea behind the website that makes it popular and sustains its popularity, not the domain name. So, no, a high Domometer grade does not gurantee the success of a website. However, a high Domometer grade means, your users will not have a tough time remembering or finding your website.
• Are private queries really private?
  Yes they are. Private queries bypass the database, and calculations are applied to them on the fly. In fact, you might notice that private queries are slightly faster than regular queries for domain names that are not already in the database.
• Does a good Domometer grade guarantee good SEO?
  Domometer grade is not related to SEO at all. In fact, some good SEO domain may grade very low in Domometer. A good domometer grade is likely to get you more type-in traffic than SEO traffic.
• Is the Domometer grade permanent?
  No. The Domometer grading system is based on a learning algorithm, so the grade is like to change over time. The chances of an A grade becoming A+ or B+ is much higher than an F becoming an A+, though. Domain names are regraded every few month, check back again to see if the grade of your domain name has changed by that time.
